湖北工程学院是湖北省人民政府举办的全日制普通本科院校，是一所具有厚重办学历史、优美育人环境、优良社会口碑的地方高等学府。中华孝文化名城孝感市。学校以1943年创建。本校徽由中英文校名、学校标志性建筑图书馆、体现学校文化特色的春晖湖和学校创建时间等元素组成。校徽形象以标志性建筑图书馆、风景秀丽的春晖湖为切入点，以简洁明快柔美的线条彰显学校充满活力与向上的个性，亦如一艘航船，象征湖北工程学院扬帆起航，踏上新的征程，引领学子泛舟知识的海洋。变形后的图书馆如钢琴键盘，寓意人文素质教育，侧视犹如汉字的“工”字，体现了工程教育特色，二者完美结合象征着学校注重人文教育与工程教育的综合协调发展。抽象的图书馆造型寓意学校“一主两翼多层次开放办学”的理念。

Hubei Engineering University is a full-time regular undergraduate college sponsored by the People’s Government of Hubei Province. It is a local higher education institution with a profound history of running schools, a beautiful educational environment and a good social reputation. It is located in Xiaogan City, a famous city of filial piety culture in China. The university was founded in 1943. The school emblem is composed of the Chinese and English names of the university, the school’s landmark building – the library, the beautiful Chunchui Lake which reflects the school’s cultural characteristics, and the founding time of the school. The image of the school emblem takes the landmark building – the library and the beautiful Chunchui Lake as the starting point, and uses simple, fast and soft lines to show the school’s dynamic and upward personality. It is also like a ship, symbolizing that Hubei Engineering University is setting sail and embarking on a new journey, leading students to navigate the ocean of knowledge. The deformed library is like a piano keyboard, symbolizing humanistic quality education. When viewed from the side, it resembles the Chinese character “工”， reflecting the engineering education characteristics. The perfect combination of the two symbolizes that the school attaches great importance to the comprehensive and coordinated development of humanistic education and engineering education. The abstract shape of the library symbolizes the school’s concept of “one main body， two wings and multi-level open education”.
